About

I am passionate about the piano and music and I love being able to share that through teaching. I tailor lessons to suit the individual and my aim is to create an encouraging, friendly environment in which students can focus on their own unique aims and dreams for playing the piano.

My teaching is designed to help all my students to be able to play the style of music that they enjoy and be well rounded musicians. In order to achieve this I use a variety of teaching methods which include elements of Kodaly, Dalcroze and whole body learning techniques which help students learn to both play by ear and read music.

Learning is another of my passions and I attend regular training courses and workshops run by world leaders in the field of piano pedagogy. This not only helps me to remember what it feels like to be the student but also ensures that my students get the benefit of the most up to date teaching standards

Due to Covid-19 all lessons are currently taking place online. No specialist equipment is needed, just access to a phone / tablet / computer (any one of these will do the job).

If exams are your goal then I have experience with all the major exam boards In both traditional and online formats. I have also helped students prepare for Nat 5, Higher and Advanced Higher SQA exam entries. Please note that exams are NOT a necessity.

I am very proud to be an active member of the  Curious Piano Teachers and have recently completed and passed their Certified Curious training course.

I have a Higher National Diploma in Music, ALCM performance diploma on piano and am a full professional member of both ISM and EPTA. I am a registered private teacher with both organisations which means I have been through their vetting system, hold a current PVG check and follow their conduct and safeguarding procedures.
